I forgot where I first read about it, but someone came up with a brilliant idea. Gas burning electric power plants release huge quantities of CO2 into the atmosphere, which contributes to global warming. An environmentally friendly alternative is to release the CO2 into a greenhouse, where it can nourish fruits and vegetables. Those fruits and vegetables can then be profitably sold to offset the cost of the greenhouse.
It seems that this concept could also be used to encourage environmentally minded homeowners to install small greenhouses in their backyards. Instead of releasing the CO2 from their home boilers into the atmosphere and contributing to global warming, they could use it to grow summer fruit in their own backyard greenhouses during the cold winter. This environmental marketing message could possibly be used to sell home greenhouses to those who would want to take concrete steps towards reducing global warming.

Great idea!
Google on enclose patio sunroom solariumAdds value to the house and provides some heat in the summer.
While it would certianly increase greenhouse production, it would merely shift the CO2 release a bit forward in time.
Thus it's not a "green" alternative in and of itself, though it could reduce the areal used for food production and thus be considered "environmentally friendly"
