I understand why credit card companies don't ask people to choose which day of the month they would like their bill to be due. Presumably most people would pick the same time of month, and it is better for a company's billing department to have the payments evenly distributed throughout the month.
It would be nice though if someone could have the same monthly due date for all of their credit cards. Someone would be far less likely to forget to make a payment if they are all due at the same time. For example, I can see someone having an email reminder sent to him on the ninth of every month saying, "Remember, your credit card payments must be received by the nineteenth."

But I think that credit card companys DON'T WANT you to pay on time. That way, they earn interest instead of bumpkis. This is why you hear of people who's accounts are cancelled because they always paid on time -- their card issuer wasn't making any money off them (probably losing money in fact).
Some people may prefer to have their bills spread out throughout the month. New companies can ask you if you want to keep the same monthly due date, or have a new one.
