USB watch | |||||||||||||||||
I love my Datalink watch and I love my USB key drive (you know, 128 meg in your pocket...). Why not combine the two? Put a couple of hundred megs in the watch, put a little retractable USB cable on the watch (could be very thin, maybe 2 feet long) and plug your watch into a front USB port. The same memory could be shared for the phone number etc you store in the watch, and the files you want to move. This also solves the problem of getting data into the Datalink watch. The flashing barcode on the screen is cool but very slow and has not progressed in 5 years. (I wonder why not). Anyway, with many people using laptops, the flashing barcode is more problematic.

Seems to have already entered the market, although not among the larger watch makers.
Check out the Sleek Watch at ThinkGeek.com
Retails at about US$139 for 256MB. Gotta admit, they've hidden the USB connector neatly, and with a battery life of 3 years, it looks like it's a decent deal!
I took a look at the watch at ThinkGeek.com and it is interesting but they don't have any PDA functions like storing phone numbers, etc. It's a pure USB drive grafted onto a watch. I want something like my DataLink watch with a lot more accessible memory and the USB.
Also, amazingly, if I read it correctly it is a mechanical analog watch!? Huh??
Anyway, thanks for the pointer.
