Security on airlines can be crucial with luggage identification but this can be time consuming under the pressure of a schedule. Commercial firms are now starting to replace bar codes on their products with an inexensive chip that can be accessed and read remotely by a radio query which can identify individual products quickly and easily without having to pick over each unit. This should be easily adaptable to airline luggage to quickly check if each piece corresponds to an actual passenger thereby minimizing the possibility planting of a bomb on the airliner with no passenger to accompany it.

If you will notice, terrorism hasn't successfully introduced anything into checked baggage in many years. Carry on luggage has had a much higher rate of success. Eliminate carry-on luggage and x-ray each person.
