Why not devote a channel or two on satellite radio to pay per listen audio books? Just subscribe to the channel and/or call up and order the audio book title you want.

You can find this material on the web. Google for internet radio and audio books. There are also service to download content and move it to your portable player. I get most of my "radio" from NPR, VOA, CBC, and kenradio.com. All from the web.
