When a gas expands it creates a cold spot - the basic principle in refrigeration. If the inner surface of a space station were under continuous surveilance by an infra-red camera, cold spots could quickly be located which would indicate a leak of air pressure. This information could be sent to a computerized map of the space structure and set off an alarm which indicated precisely where the problem could be.
