As a VC, we see 100 deals for every 1 we fund, and perhaps 1 in 10 eventually find a sponsor. Ultimately, only 1 in 50 companies survive and prosper. Experience at a large company indicated similar outcomes within the corporation.Many of these ideas are "good", but it's insufficient to base a standalone business on a mere feature. Switching costs (both mental and material) are generally high, and markets are fragmented and hard to reach economically. So, why are some ideas implemented, and others remain enticing but unrealized?
