It might be able to make that part of the "black-box" flight recorder, but not to actually transmit it to earth maybe.

That would definitely help make people safer, and even though it may be an invasion of privacy, it's just inside a plane which is public transportation anyway :). I'd rather make it off the plane alive anyway.

Seems you could execute a low bandwidth version of this that is:- a series of still images, say one every 10 seconds- captured from each cabin area (1st, business, economy, bathrooms, galleys, cockpit)- send it via the same channel used for the phone calls as low resolution files- keep the high resolution ones in the black box- when the plane docks at the gate, transfer the high resolution images to the TSA, FAA, et al

The bathroom images are the only ones that people may have a real issue with but there has been observation and hypotheses of strange / terrorist related things that have been suspected such as storing of items in the walls of airplane bathrooms.

I can't imagine people, even low-wage people like sociologists, actually watching the footage of every flight. Could some image-processing software detect what is attention-worthy for expensive human processing ? But what would ground personnel do with the information that would justify the expense ? I wonder whether this would just provide material for reality television shows.
